Because living is to live to the fullest, and living is to bring value

Diversity creates sustainability. The Award for Good Capability Personnel is not to divide good and bad employees but to recognize and encourage everyone to develop according to their own timeline. This is the message Vilai Viet conveyed through the speech of our Chairman. In the first year of organizing, the award recognized 25 individuals from many different departments at Vilai Viet.

During the YEP 2023 of Vilai Viet, before awarding the Award for Good Capability Personnel 2023, Mr Tran Tien Dung - Chairman of Vilai Viet gave a meaningful speech to all employees of the company. The full speech is as below:

"Ladies and gentlemen,

Firstly, I would like to congratulate those who will receive the Award for Good Capability Personnel 2023.

To promptly acknowledge qualified personnel, this year, the company has launched foundation evaluation systems based on the actual capability to make data-based decisions, provide different perspectives, and make a premise for a systematic and detailed capability evaluation system in the future. 

There is a quote: “If you overly esteem talented individuals, people will become overly competitive”. When publishing this award, we did wonder a bit. Therefore, we must make ourselves clear to avoid unwanted misunderstandings.

Think of our latest tree-planting event. Surely you have noticed that the most luxuriant, dense, and vibrant is the place with the most species living together. From big to small trees, from bushes to climbers, mushrooms, grass, flowers, birds, insects, crickets, and many more. Nature has shown us an insight: Diversity creates Sustainability.

Now, think of our company as a garden where there are deciduous trees, flowering trees, and fruit trees. Everything has its own place and function. There is no basis to say which tree is better than the others.

Those who receive the award today, think of yourselves as a flowering tree that is about to bloom, and the company is like a gardener, writing down our garden book that this tree is reaching its flowering period. That is good news because you have been able to develop your potential.

Those who didn’t receive the award today, think of yourselves as a flowering tree that is still in bud, a fruit tree that is still in sprout. And then one day, when there is enough sunshine and rain, you will surely bloom and bear fruit. 

Our biggest responsibility, like a gardener, is taking care of the garden every day to ensure its fertility and protect its safety so that the trees can fully develop. Besides that, we can’t do anything more, because we can’t bloom on your behalf.

In that way, we hope that those who are still in the process of nurturing their knowledge, gathering their experience, and honing their skills, will have enough resources and conditions from the company to prove their capabilities. One year, two years, three years, or even longer, no matter how much time, there will be a time when we get to be excited and mark down our garden book that another tree has reached its flowering period. When that time comes, you will also be glad. Not that because you have received the award, but because you have developed your potential wonderfully.

We also have a reminder for those who received the award today: this is not the finishing. You can bloom even brighter and spread a more lasting fragrance. More importantly, remember that even after the flower withered, you still have to sow the next seeds, create new buds and branches to develop your inner potential further. That new seed, new bud, new branch, must overcome new difficulties of the weather to live its life to the fullest.

In short, you will have to find another direction of development and thinking, which means having to overcome new challenges to become more complete, to bring more value to life. Because living is to live to the fullest, and living is to bring value. 

Our purpose is to everyone understand the humanistic meaning of the award, and avoid thoughts of jealousy and competition. We hope that our worry when publishing this award will not come true, as those who received the award will find new directions to engage in, and those who haven’t received the award will actively cultivate to perfect themselves.
