Building Green from the Ground Up
Constructing a green building requires consistent commitment from the earliest preparation stage through design, construction, and operational phases. As a Design & Build contractor with a sustainable development orientation, Vilai Viet has delivered multiple green-certified projects and continues to improve by adopting energy efficiency solutions directly on construction sites, heading towards buildings that are efficient, safe, and bring lasting value to the community.

What Is a Green Building?
Green buildings are developments that integrate resource-efficient and environmentally responsible solutions throughout design, construction, and operation.
Across their full life cycle, green buildings not only reduce emissions but also generate positive impacts on the ecosystem and human well-being through energy efficiency, water conservation, improved indoor environmental quality, sustainable material selection, and controlled environmental impacts on surrounding areas.
To be officially recognized, a project must comply with specific green building standards and be evaluated by an independent certification body. Common certifications in Vietnam include LEED, EDGE, and LOTUS, each with its own criteria and scoring method.
Sustainability as the Starting Point
For a project to achieve green certification, the investor must define clear sustainability targets with the contractor from the initial project kick-off stage. This ensures technical requirements are embedded into the design and that all mandatory criteria can be met.
For green projects delivered by Vilai Viet as the Design & Build contractor, our engineering teams accompany the investor throughout early advisory stages, ensuring that proposed solutions reflect both sustainability goals and real operational needs. For projects not pursuing certification, Vilai Viet tailors practical resource-saving solutions based on the client’s requirements, reducing environmental impact while still ensuring performance.
Once the design is completed, green practices must be maintained consistently, from pre-construction through project handover and operation.
As a sustainable contractor, Vilai Viet prioritizes greening construction sites from the earliest stages, beginning with temporary work. Using panel materials as the main structure, temporary offices are designed for efficiency, durability, and reusability for future projects. Greenness is incorporated throughout the office area to improve air quality and site aesthetics.
During construction, the site includes separate areas for waste sorting and storage. Perimeter walls are built with masonry to prevent soil runoff or wastewater from spilling onto public roads, thereby reducing environmental risks.
Vilai Viet believes that the goal of green construction extends beyond certification but lies in real, tangible impact on communities. This mindset shapes how we implement practical initiatives, encouraging every team member to innovate, improve, and embed sustainability into daily design and construction activities.
Implement Technology to Create Sustainable Operations
Alongside greening the site, Vilai Viet implements technological solutions that optimize resource use and reduce workload. These solutions are planned, piloted, and expanded in phases based on actual project conditions.
Solar Power System Installation
In 2025, at the Gamuda Land Hai Phong project, Vilai Viet piloted a solar energy system for site lighting, a first for a large-scale high-rise project such as LC1.1.
Solar panels were installed in the temporary office area. The collected energy is used to power nighttime lighting during the initial construction stage.
Performance results from this pilot will guide wider application in future suitable projects, forming the foundation for adopting green energy efficiency on-site and creating real data for optimization.
Water Harvesting & Reuse System
In parallel with solar energy, Vilai Viet also piloted a rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse system at the Gamuda Land Hai Phong project. As the project is designed to achieve EDGE certification and is required to align with Gamuda Green Plan, it serves as a strategic green technology testbed.
The system collects rainwater and pre-treats domestic wastewater in parallel. The treated water is reused for landscape irrigation and wheel washing, reducing losses and conserving water resources.
With an integrated sedimentation and filtration line and separate rainwater/wastewater drainage, the system minimizes the risk of runoff pollution from the site.
Increased Integration of Automation
Automatic water taps, motion-sensor lighting, and similar devices help reduce daily consumption on site. Beyond these tools, Vilai Viet is also driving digital transformation aligned with sustainability goals.
Beginning with digital archiving in 2021, by 2024, Vilai Viet successfully implemented automated systems for site operations, focusing on security, efficiency, and reducing labor intensity.
With this system, vehicle entry and exit are handled completely automatically, reducing waiting time, minimizing noise, and lowering fuel consumption at the gate.
All data is digitized, reducing paper use and shortening inspection procedures. Transparent traceability also enhances site discipline, reduces material wastage, and improves issue handling, helping maintain a clean, orderly, green site environment.
Commitment as the Core of Sustainable Growth
Green solutions only become a reality through the dedication and commitment of the entire team. Vilai Viet encourages creativity and proactive proposals from staff, allowing innovative solutions to be piloted, evaluated by experts, and scaled across the company through clear standards and responsibilities.
Commitment turns plans into results. When disciplined execution is maintained, pilot solutions become long-term standards, creating sustainable value for buildings, people, and communities.
